Members of J&K Unemployed Physical Education and Sports Association held protests outside press enclave Thursday demanding early implementation of the Rehber-e-Khail scheme. The protesters raised banner and shouted slogans of justice.

The protesters alleged that Rehber-e-Khail scheme that would generate employment for about 60,000 local youth has not been implemented yet despite promises by the authorities.

“We want concerned authorities to implement this scheme. It is already in the cabinet but it is not being implemented,” said Hilal Ahmad Rather, President JKUPESA. “The process must be expedited before we are forced to take a wrong step.”

The protesters also demanded implementation of policy decision declaring sports, Games and physical education compulsory in all Middle Schools, High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in the state.
