District Development Commissioner Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari Sunday put two headmasters of Government Girls Middle School Lamber and High School Chamalwas zone Banihal under suspension.

“The action was taken after the another suspected death of one 11 years old girl namely Ifra Nazir daughter of Nazir Ahmed Shiek of Lamber Banihal happened who had reportedly taken excess iron pills distributed at her school. The same nature of death previously happened at Chaknarwah village where Touseer Ahmed son of Ab Rashid Sohil died after taking same pills few days ago,” an official statement said this evening.

MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool Wani visited the house of Nazir at Lamber and expressed his condolence with the bereaved family.

Vikar held a press conference at Dak Banglow and criticised the ‘non-serious’ approach of government as well as school authorities by supplying and distributing expired iron pills among children which become the cause of death of these two minor children’s of the area.

He alleged that the supplied medicines are almost outdated and no guiding principles were adopted by the school authorities while distribution of such medicines among the school children’s. He also said that the public of Banihal will not compromise on the loss of two precious lives.
