Two days after he landed in Srinagar, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani, was Friday disallowed to offer mandatory Friday congregational prayers.

He has been put under house detention.

“After returning from New Delhi on 6th April, J&K Government again deployed police and men in civies around the office-cum-residence of Geelani and a police vehicle was placed at the entrance of main gate,” Hurriyat Conference (g) spokesperson said this evening

Strongly condemning the government action, the spokesperson said, “since 2010, when Omar Abdullah was in power, Geelani was continuously in confinement after that late Mufti Sayeed and his daughter followed the same path. In fact, they are on same page as far as Geelani sahib’s illegal detention is concerned.”

“No regime so far has been able to show any confinement order about Geelani and this inhuman act falls under grave human rights violation,” the spokesperson said.
