SRINAGAR: An Agniveer died of a bullet wound along the Line of Control in the Mankote Sector of Poonch district, officials said on Wednesday.
They said Sepoy (Agniveer) Amritpal Singh, posted near LOC in the Mankote area of Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district, was performing sentry duty at the time of the incident.
“He died on the spot. Later police party visited the spot and after completing all legal formalities, the body was shifted to the hospital for postmortem,” the official said.
Inquest proceedings have been initiated to ascertain whether it was an accidental fire from the deceased’s own weapon or a case of suicide. (GNS)
