Ahead of Friday prayers, Mirwaiz released from house detention

Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz released from six-day house detention

Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was on Friday released from house detention to address the first Friday congregation of the holy month of Ramadhan at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid.

A spokesperson of the amalgam said that Mirwaiz was released from six-day detention today morning.

Mirwaiz was placed under detention last Saturday to prevent him from leading a protest rally following the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat.

The killing had triggered widespread protests and shutdown for at least three days across Kashmir valley.
