Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has invited leaders from the National Conference (NC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peoples Conference (PC) for the meeting, which is scheduled to take place at the Legislative Assembly complex in Jammu.

The Speaker has also invited leaders of legislature parties and chief whips to attend the meeting.

According to sources, Sunil Kumar Sharma (BJP), Ali Mohammad Sagar (NC), Mubarak Gul (NC), Sajad Gani Lone (Peoples Conference), Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami (CPI-M), Ghulam Ahmad Mir (Congress), Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra (PDP), and Muzaffar Iqbal Khan (Independent) have been invited.

The 43-day session, beginning on March 3, is expected to be stormy, with opposition parties preparing to corner the government on various issues.

While the BJP is expected to question the government on governance and the ruling NC’s manifesto commitments, Kashmir-based opposition parties like the PDP and PC are likely to raise issues such as Article 370, an alcohol ban, and other matters.

Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone has submitted a resolution seeking the strongest possible condemnation of the August 5, 2019, decisions and the restoration of Article 370.

Additionally, PDP MLA Mir Muhammad Fayaz, NC MLA Ahsan Pardesi, and AIP MLA Sheikh Khursheed Ahmed have submitted separate bills seeking a ban on the sale and consumption of liquor in Jammu & Kashmir. (KNO)
