Authorities on Tuesday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
Chief Cleric of Kashmir is scheduled to address his yearly sermon in historic Jamia Masjid tonight on eve of the Shab-e-Barat.
Reports said that the Mirwaiz was placed under detention at his Nigeen residence.
Shab-e-Barat is being observed tonight with religious fervour and thousands of believers will spend a whole night in prayers.
