All India Congress Committee continues to remain tight lipped over the remarks of state Congress Chief Prof  Saifuddin Soz where he seconded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

In charge Kashmir affairs at the AICC, and Congress General Secretary Mohan Parkash Saturday chose to play safe over revocation of AFSPA.

“Why are u asking me? Ask this to Prof Saifuddin Soz Sahib”, retorted Prakash when KNS asked him as to what the stand of the AICC was on the issue.

Meanwhile senior congress leader and Minster for Medical Education, Taj Mohiuddin said, “All the three stake holders- GoI, State government and Army should put their heads together to find a proper way out.

“AFSPA should be tackled after keeping all the apprehensions in mind and no politics from any quarter should be played”, he added.

Pertinently state congress Chief Saifuddin Soz had come out openly in support of Chief Minster and shot a letter to Union Home Minister urging him to hold a meeting with the former over revocation of the Act.

State congress Chief Prof Saifuddin Soz had also said that issue would be discussed in the coalition coordination committee.

Earlier Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday put all speculations over the revocation of controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to rest by stating that there has been no formal request from Jammu and Kashmir government for scrapping of the Act. He also said that the Act doesn’t provide immunity to armed forces personnel on charges of rape and sexual assault.
