SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate Jammu and Kashmir’s first prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur Samba, Jammu, on Tuesday.

The prestigious healthcare institution, along with other important mega infrastructure development projects, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit JK tomorrow.

Quoting an official of AIIMS Jammu, KNO reported that AIIMS Jammu is ready to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate AIIMS Jammu tomorrow.

He said that the state-of-the-art hospital will offer high-quality patient care services in 17 super specialties and 18 specialties, including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Endocrinology, Burns, and Plastic Surgery.

Director of AIIMS Jammu, Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, had earlier informed KNO that they are expecting around 3000-4000 patients visiting the hospital daily to give relief to the overcrowded hospitals of J&K, especially GMC Jammu.

He said that some high-tech facilities have been installed while some more are being installed, adding that the hospital will not only cater to patients from J&K but also from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

AIIMS Jammu is currently offering an MBBS program for a duration of 5 years and 6 months with a total seat intake of 62 that will be taken to 100 once the institute is made operational.

The super specialty hospital will have 750 beds, including 46 trauma and emergency beds, 193 ICU beds, 20 operation theatres, a helipad, and a 1,000-seat auditorium besides MRI, CT, and CATH lab equipped with the most modern technology.

The departments include General Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, CVTS, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology Surgery, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Urology, Nephrology, Pediatric Surgery, Burn and Plastic Surgery, Nuclear Medicine, ENT, Dermatology, Dentistry, Dermatology, CFM, Anaesthesiology, Anatomy, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Pathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Radiology and Pulmonary Medicine—(KNO)
