SRINAGAR: The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 336 crore worth of road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.
The projects include Rs 101 crore for Kupwara district, Rs 120 crore for Bandipora, Rs 103 crore for Baramulla, and Rs 12 crore for parts of Budgam falling within the parliamentary jurisdiction. The newly approved road networks aim to provide vital all-weather connectivity to underserved and remote areas, improving access to education, healthcare, markets and other services.
Announcing the development, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that the approval was proof of Engineer Rashid’s deep-rooted connection with grassroots issues and his unwavering commitment to public welfare, even while incarcerated in Tihar Jail since 2019 under charges related to a terror funding case.
“Despite being unjustly jailed, Engineer Rashid’s spirit remains unshaken. This is not just a developmental achievement but a political statement — that prison walls cannot silence a leader who carries the people’s pain and hopes in his heart,” said Inam.
