SRINAGAR

Kashmir’s AIP is mulling to join AAP in coming days and to materialize the deal, Awami Ithihaad Party (AIP) Chairman, Engineer Rashid is leaving for New Delhi in coming week. Party sources told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS that before taking a final decision, Eng Rashid wants to know about the Aam Aadmi Party’s stand on Kashmir issue and for this purpose he is meeting Kejriwal in coming days.

“Both AIP and AAP have same stand on corruption, ending of VIP culture and other issues related to common people and both the parties held common people in high esteem. There is quite possibility that AIP will take shape of AAP and contest elections in Kashmir,” an AIP leader told CNS on condition of anonymity.

Sources said that AIP will take a final decision in this regard after meeting between Er Rashid and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be over. “Our party chief Engineer Rashid agrees with all the policies pursued by Aam Aadmi Party but there are some differences over Kashmir issue. Once, AAP will come round to our views on K-issue, both the parties will be one and hopefully, Aam Aadmi Party will contest elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Engineer Rashid declined to comment over the issue, however, he told CNS that shortly before the elections in New Delhi, he met Arvind Kejriwal and had a long discussion with him over various issues relating to people and governance.

“Kejrival is a good friend of mine and my best wishes are with him. We have lot of similiarties and both the parties are against corruption and VIP culture. I may give him full support once he clears his stand on Kashmir issue,” Rashid said.

Rashid further said that he will let everyone know when he will meet AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, highly placed sources told CNS, that the date for the meeting between Er Rashid and Arvind Kejriwal has already been finalized and Rashid is leaving for New Delhi in coming days
