SRINAGAR: The engineers manning the AIR Medium Wave transmitter system are testing the system and there is a strong likelihood that the Radio will resume its services tonight after a four-day hiatus.

Informed sources in AIR Srinagar said they have been told by the engineering section that the transmitter is being tested after repairs for half an hour. Once it is all right, the services will resume fully tonight at any time.

The AIR Srinagar’s transmitting system located at Narbal has been down for technical reasons for the fourth consecutive day. It is old machinery and has encountered some serious problems. Radio’s FM services are running but not the primary service broadcast through its Medium Wave set-up.
