SRINAGAR: In recent developments concerning the mysterious deaths in Badhal village, Rajouri district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, announced that all patients are set to be discharged today.
The Deputy Commissioner told reporters that despite the discharges, monitoring and surveillance efforts will continue to ensure public safety.
Since December 7, 2024, Badhal village has witnessed 17 fatalities attributed to a mysterious illness. Investigations have indicated that these deaths are not due to any communicable diseases of bacterial or viral origin.
Current findings suggest that toxins might be the cause, though the exact source remains unidentified.
In response to the situation, authorities had previously relocated affected families to isolation facilities as a precautionary measure. The village was also declared a containment zone to prevent further incidents.
The DC stated that, as per guidelines, the patients will be discharged, but they will remain under observation and monitoring.
He added that their food and other items have been sealed, and the government is providing fresh eatables to the affected families.
As the patients are discharged, the administration emphasized that monitoring and surveillance will persist to ensure the continued safety and well-being of the community. (JKNS)
