Seeking resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh in view of serious charges against him of allegedly trying to favour a firm in the allotment of power project worth Crores of rupees, without following the norms, Congress Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed should immediately explain over the sensational disclosures in the media about the issue.
Reacting over the disclosures in a section of press regarding the attempts by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to allot a solar power project worth Rs 700 Crore to a favour a firm, allegedly without following the due norms and procedure, the Congress questioned Mufti led Government over its “tall claims of transparency and accountability”, more particularly when the officer who reportedly did not oblige the ‘boss’ has been prematurely shifted by the Government, which puts big question mark over the motive and transfer policy of the Government.
In a statement Chief Spokesperson of the Pradesh Congress Committee, Ravinder Sharma, demanded “that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed should immediately explain the position in the matter in the light of facts brought-out by the media, besides seeking the resignation of the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh in view of the disclosures containing serious charges. An independent high level probe is required to bring-out the entire truth in the matter”.
