A girl (name withheld) has committed suicide after being allegedly raped by her father in Chaliwaan Chattybandi area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Reports said that the girl committed suicide after she was allegedly raped by her father at her home.
They said that Police after receiving compliant has taken the body to Bandipora hospital for conducting a postmortem and the accused father has been arrested.
SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik while confirming the incident said that they have registered an FIR and the accused father has been arrested.
“Case FIR No 04/2019 U/S 506,376,306 has been registered in Police Station Aragam against the accused and investigation has been started in the matter,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir Police issued the following statement saying that a girl name withheld D/O Walayat Qureshi of Challiwan Gojarpati Aragam Bandipora died after taking some poisonous substance at home.
“The girl was repeatedly raped by her father and unable to bear the mental agony she took some poisonous substance after that she was referred to hospital and during treatment, she died,” said police spokesman.
“Accused father has been arrested & Police has taken the dead body into their custody & Medico legal formalities of the diseased are being conducted,” he said.
“A case FIR No. 4/2019 has been registered in PS-Aragam U/S 306,376,509 RPC and Investigation initiated to ascertain the motive behind this heinous crime,” said the spokesman.
