SRINAGAR: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday hits out at the Government for allocating thousands of kanals of land to armed forces in Kashmir valley.
Taking to social networking site Twitter, Mehbooba wrote: “Allocating thousands of kanals to armed forces that too in tourist areas confirms GOIs intention to convert J&K into a military garrison. Under the ‘state land’ pretext, our land is up for grabs & to add insult to injury locals are being evicted from their homes.”

The former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks came after the government declared 1034 kanals of land in Gulmarg and 354 in Sonamarg as ‘strategic areas for armed forces’, authorities here insisted that there was “nothing new” it.
