SRINAGAR: A 69-year-old Amarnath Yatra pilgrim from Bengaluru, Karnataka, died on Tuesday after falling unconscious near the Baltal base camp in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
An official said the deceased was identified as R S Manjunath, son of late R Shivaiah, and a resident of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
He reportedly lost consciousness near the vehicle parking area and was immediately shifted to the Base Hospital Baltal. However, doctors at the facility declared him brought dead, the official said.
Cognisance has been taken, and necessary medico-legal formalities have been initiated by the authorities. (JKNS)
