Security and deployment arrangements being made for the ensuing Amaranth Yatra-2016 were Wednesday reviewed at meetings held at Pahalgam and Baltal under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar.

Senior officers from police and security agencies were present in the meeting, an official spokesperson said early this evening.

DGP stressed upon the officers to maintain close coordination with other sister security agencies and civil administration to ensure that adequate arrangements are put in place for the devotees in time.

During the meetings, threadbare discussion was held with regard to deployment of personnel from JKP and other security agencies from both the routes for smooth conduct of Yatra-2016. Officers representing different security agencies briefed about the deployment of man power and other related security arrangements.

Earlier, Rajendra along with IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani took aerial survey of both the routes viz Pahalgam and Baltal and asked the officers to identify sensitive places and strengthen security grid after making joint efforts.

Rajendra also asked to strengthen the communication network and maintain liaison about the arrival and departure of pilgrims. He said that Duty magistrates and the civil administration should be provided full cooperation in the performance of their duties.

Rajendra stressed upon the officers to make sure that vehicles are parked at the identified slots and recovery vans are kept ready to ensure smooth traffic regulation on both the routes. He revealed that 24*7 functional Joint Control Rooms have been established to monitor the arrangements by the senior officers.
