SRINAGAR: Authorities on Saturday urged Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 pilgrims not to travel to Jammu and Kashmir without prior registration, saying the availability of Tatkal (on-spot) registration slots is extremely limited due to the daily ceiling on the number of pilgrims.
Amarnath Yatra 2026: Authorities Urge Pilgrims To Avoid Travel Without Registration
Officials said that, as per the directions of the Supreme Court, a maximum number of pilgrims permitted on the pilgrimage route each day has been fixed, and strict compliance with the limit is necessary to ensure the safety of devotees and the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
They said advance registration facilities were made available well before the commencement of the pilgrimage through designated bank branches across the country and online platforms, with a majority of pilgrims already completing the process.
“Thousands of pilgrims arriving in Jammu and Kashmir without registration cannot be accommodated under the Tatkal facility. Such pilgrims are requested to wait for their turn and travel only on the date assigned by the administration,” officials said.
Authorities also noted that several registered pilgrims have been arriving in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of their scheduled travel dates. They clarified that no pilgrim would be allowed to undertake the Yatra before their registered date.
Officials appealed to pilgrims who have reached Jammu and Kashmir without registration to cooperate with the administration and wait for their turn.
“Every pilgrim will get an opportunity to undertake the Yatra, but only as per the prescribed procedure and available capacity,” they said, urging devotees to maintain order and follow guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
