The Amarnath Yatra resumed on Sunday after a day-long suspension with 7,993  pilgrims leaving Jammu for the cave shrine in Kashmir Valley.

Confirming the resumption of Yatra, an official said that a batch of 7,993 yatris left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in two escorted convoy of vehicles. This includes yatris going to both Baltal and Pahalgam base camps.

“Of these, 2,723 are going to Baltal base camp while 5,270 are going to Pahalgam base camp,” he said.

The 45-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on July 1 has been going on smoothly. Till date, over 1,73,978 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at Amarnath cave.
