In the clashes after protesters burst firecrackers and pelted stones on the forces, the latter resorted to aerial firing in the southern town of Pulwama on Friday.

Reports said that, following the congregational prayers Friday prayers local youth took to streets chanting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. They burst fire checkers and pelted stones on the forces, reports said.

In retaliation, eyewitnesses said that, forces resorted to aerial firing to chase away the protesters.

No one was hurt in the incident, reports said.

The resistance leadership had called for valley wide shutdown over the killing of a young student on Tuesday in Shopian.
