As the fourth phase of polling is going on, many scenes were created.

In city centre’s Maisuma area youth came out in protest to polling and hurled stones at men in uniform.

Reports said that the troops on guard resorted to shelling on protesting youth resulting in clashes.

Meanwhile, in nearby Kralkhud area NC and LJP workers came to blows, reports said.

“The workers of both the parties came to blows with each other at the polling station,” the reports added.

In Budshah Nagar locality in uptown Srinagar forces were called in to pacify the situation at a polling station where Peoples Democratic Party and National Conference workers exchanged blows and used invectives at each other.

“The incident happened at polling station housed in Walden School Budshah Nagar. Police officials on duty said the situation has been pacified. Extra measures have been put in place to ensure violence free polling,” the reports said.

They added that polling has been resumed after a brief hiatus.
