SRINAGAR: Lt General Navin Sachdeva on Monday took over as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, also known as 16 Corps, succeeding Lt General Sandeep Jain, a week after four soldiers were killed in a militant ambush at Surankote in Poonch.

“Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva took over the command of the White Knight Corps from Lt Gen Sandeep Jain,” the army announced on X.

In the aftermath of the ambush many senior officers of Army were replaced in Rajouri and Poonch and an inquiry was ordered after three civilians allegedly picked up by army for questioning died, resulting in a major controversy.

After assuming the command, Lt-Gen Sachdeva paid rich tributes to the bravehearts and exhorted all ranks to continue working with utmost zeal and enthusiasms.

He asked them to remain combat-ready to thwart the nefarious designs of forces inimical to India in synergy with civil administration and paramilitary forces.
