Scores of people on Saturday attended the funeral prayers of Muskan Jan, who was critically injured in a shootout in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday.

Reports said that thousands of people from various areas of the district reached at the Muskaan’s native village Wanigung, Qaimoh and participated in the funeral prayers of the slain Muskaan.

They said that scores of men and women wept bitterly as the body was being carried towards its final resting place.

Muskan Jan of Wangud- Qaimoh had slipped into a coma after she was hit by a stray bullet in Wanigund Khudwani in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, near a the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology (SKUAST) research centre after militants and army exchanged gunfire.

The army camp located near the research centre was earlier attacked by militants, the army in retaliation had fired towards the militants. In the exchange of fire, Muskaan received a stray bullet in her shoulder.

Muskaan was soon rushed to district hospital Islamabad for the treatment and then referred to SKIMS for the for the specialised treatment, however, she has succumbed to injuries today morning at SKIMS.
