SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday chaired a core group meeting with Jammu and Kashmir’s BJP unit at party headquarters in New Delhi and directed party men to further strengthen the party at the booth level. He also asked party leaders to rope in prominent personalities into the party fold and to focus on “youth power.”
Quoting sources, KNO reported that top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including its National President J P Nadda, leaders from JK unit, Ravinder Raina, General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul and others were present in the meeting.
The meeting started at 3:00 PM at party headquarters in New Delhi where discussion was made on the upcoming elections. Sources said that the feedback was received from J&K leaders with regard to the ground situation.
Ashok Koul while talking to KNO said that it was an organizational meeting wherein the upcoming Lok Sabha polls were discussed. “The leadership directed the J&K unit to gear up and strengthen the party at grassroots level,” Koul said, adding that no other discussion took place during the meeting.
Sources said that the party’s J&K unit was directed to start a door to door campaign and ensure the lotus blooms across J&K in the upcoming parliamentary elections. However, Koul said that the ULB and Panchayat polls were not discussed in the meeting.
A senior party leader, who was present in the meeting told KNO that Shah stressed on making the party more vibrant in J&K and asked the party men to rope in prominent personalities in every zone into the party fold.
“The Home Minister told us to make more youth join BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. He also directed the party men to reach out to the people and ensure that Lotus blooms in Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in J&K,” BJP leader said.
