The ministry said the platform has been developed to strengthen the cooperative sector and promote inclusive, citizen-focused mobility services. Bharat Taxi is designed to place drivers, known as Sarathis, at the centre of ownership, operations and value creation, moving away from conventional aggregator-driven models.

Officials said the platform will function on a zero-commission and surge-free pricing system, with profits distributed directly among drivers. The initiative aims to ensure fair earnings and greater financial security for those operating on the platform.

The ministry added that Bharat Taxi places emphasis on social security, offering benefits such as health and accident insurance, retirement savings and a dedicated driver support mechanism.

As part of its outreach initiatives, the platform has also introduced Bike Didi, under which more than 150 women drivers have joined Bharat Taxi so far, the ministry said.
