Amit Shah to Lead Review of New Criminal Laws Implementation in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the implementation of new criminal laws in Jammu and Kashmir.

Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed security of Jammu and Kashmir in a high level meeting on February 5, 2025.

Sources said that the meeting will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and top officials from the central government and Jammu and Kashmir.

They added that the meeting is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in North Block, New Delhi.

A close aide to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed that he has been invited to attend the meeting.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam replaced the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act of 1872 after the new criminal laws came into effect from 1 July last year.
