An army trooper and a policeman sustained injuries on Monday after both the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire on LoC in Nowshera sector.

Reports said that firing started today morning and lasted for about two hours during which small and medium level weapons were used while some mortar shells were also fired.

The gun fires between both the armies took place in Lam and Jhanger areas of Nowshera and uneasy calm is prevailing since than.

During the exchange of firing an army man posted on LoC in Jhanger Lam got injured in firing and is under treatment at the local army hospital. A police cop identified as SPO Gurcharan Singh belt no 622/ posted at police station Arnia Jammu also sustained injuries.

Earlier, on May 18, Eight civilians, including a husband and wife and four members of another family, were killed when Indian and Pakistani soldiers fired at border posts and villages along the highly militarized frontier in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said Friday. A BSF trooper was also killed in the fighting.
