Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Monday revoked the suspension and sedition charges against Kashmiri students who were suspended on charges of trying to organize a condolence meeting on the AMU campus for slain scholar turned Hizb commander Manan Bashir Wani.

“Yes, the suspension has been revoked. We will also convey the report of our fact-finding team to the district administration so that they can take a call on quashing the FIR too. We have always said and we reiterate that no student will be victimized by the administration,” reports quoted AMU PRO Omar Peerzada as saying.

Earlier in a day, the Alumni meet at Aligarh Muslim University witnessed a silent protest by Kashmir students including girls, against the sedition charges, suspension and showcase notices issued to students. The protest was held outside the Kennedy Hall where the meet was scheduled.

In solidarity with these students, Kashmiri students in various universities extended their support by standing in solidarity with the AMU counterparts.
