Authorities at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in a notice has advised students to refrain themselves from visiting outside the university campus following tension over Lethpora attack.

A notice issued by Provost SS Hall AMU which reads, “As communicated by the office of  the DSW, all the resident Kashmiri students are hereby  advised to  stay in  the  Hall, and should refrain themselves from visiting outside the university campus.”

Commenting on the issue Provost  AMU SS Hall Prof Mohammad Ubaidullah Bokhari assured the safety of Kashmiri students and said the circular has been already issued for the safety of students.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also requested the centre to ensure security for people from the state who are living across the country.

“My earnest appeal to Rajnath Singh ji to please issue directions to all state governments to take special care in areas/colleges/institutions where Kashmiris are residing/studying. They are soft targets in a surcharged atmosphere,” Omar tweeted on Friday.

Earlier the MHA today issued an advisory to all states and UTs to take necessary measures to ensure their safety and security of Kashmiris.
