The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, has increased the price of a one-litre pouch of ghee from Rs 630 to Rs 680, while the 500-gram table butter pack has become costlier by Rs 15, rising from Rs 310 to Rs 325.

According to the revised rates, a 500-gram pure ghee pouch will now cost Rs 345, against the earlier price of Rs 325. The price of a 100-gram butter pack has also been increased from Rs 63 to Rs 66.

The revision follows an increase in input costs, particularly those associated with milk production. GCMMF had earlier said that higher production costs had necessitated a revision in the prices of butter and ghee.

The federation had also increased fresh milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in May this year, covering major variants, including Amul Gold, Taaza, Shakti and Cow Milk.

At the time, GCMMF cited rising costs of cattle feed, packaging materials and fuel, along with higher milk procurement prices paid to dairy farmers by its member unions.

GCMMF is among India’s leading dairy cooperatives and is owned by 36 lakh farmers. Its turnover rose 11.4 per cent to Rs 73,450 crore in the 2025-26 financial year, compared with Rs 65,911 crore in the preceding fiscal year.
