The residents of Akhren-Chake Trahphoo area of Achabal in Anantnag district on Sunday staged a protest against the alleged failure of the Public Health Engineering department in providing drinking water to the residents.
Scores of the protesting residents said that area is facing a water shortage from very long time and despite repeated pleas, no measures are being taken up by the concerned authorities’. “We approached authorities many times but all in vain,” said one of the protestor.
The residents have sought immediate restoration of the supply in the area, “we all urge the authorities’ to restore our water supply as soon as possible otherwise the residents would be on roads on daily basis.”
Meanwhile, the residents of Kadlabal Pampore also urged the authorities to restore the water supply in the area.
