The Anganwadi workers and Helpers on Monday staged a protest in Srinagar demanding the release of state share to Anganwadi employees.

Scores of protesting workers and helpers assembled in Srinagar’s s Partap Park and registered their protest against Governor Administration for not providing them the state share of Rs 500 to Anganwadi workers and Rs 360 to helpers.

“In August 2018, the Governor announced the state share of Rs 500 to Anganwadi workers and Rs 360 to helpers. But till now we didn’t a single penny from the government, said Tasleema Banoo, president of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association Kashmir.

“We communicate with mothers, and provide the best facilities to their newborn babies under Child Care Education (ECC),” another employee Raja Begum told this reporter. Besides this, “we also provide supplementary nutrition to them,” she said.
