Anganwari, Asha workers stage protest, seek regularization

Srinagar

The Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari and Asha workers Union from several districts of Kashmir on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration outside press colony, Srinagar.

Scores of the protestors assembled outside press colony raising anti-government slogans.

The protest was staged in wake of the recent statement issued by Finance Minister Dr Hasseb Darbu that state has nothing to do with Asha and Anganwari as they are Center-sponsored employees.

“We have been working for 35 years on a meagre salary, despite working regularly, authorities never listened to our pleas,” said a protestor.

Another protestor expressing resentment stated that ” we have worked for the state but its so unfortunate that we are being neglected by the government now.”

“If authorities fail this time also, we will take our lives and government would be responsible for that,” she added.
