Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Science & Technology Sajad Gani Lone Saturday urged upon the field staff of the department to build strong rapport and close coordination with general masses in the State and get them associated in animal and sheep rearing to a large extent as it has a vast scope to improve their socio-economic condition.
The Minister said that the main objective of the department is to increase production and productivity of mutton, chicken, milk and wool in the State. He said the animal and sheep rearing in JK provides substantial employment opportunities, as it constitutes subsidiary occupation of majority of rural masses.
According to an official statement, Sajad said the potential for employment generation in sheep husbandry can be further harnessed through establishment of sheep/goat units and mini sheep farms for which the Department provides subsidy support and technical know-how. He urged educated unemployed youth to take advantage of these schemes.
The Minister instructed the Association members to work with more zeal, zest and dedication so that the department achieves new milestones. The President of the Association assured the Minister full cooperation in making the departmental programmes a great success.
The Minister was interacting with a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Technical Staff Association of Animal Husbandry Department (JKTSAAHD), led by its State President Sheikh Muhammad Ahsan who called on him here today. Provincial Presidents of Kashmir & Jammu and District President Bandipora were part of the delegation.
