In order to curb the menace of drug addiction in Pulwama, police has booked a notorious drug peddler under PSA, police said Wednesday evening.

Police Station Pulwama arrested a notorious drug peddler Naseer Ahmad Pandith son of Mohammad Rajab resident of Karimabad Pulwama on 30-11-2015. On his instance, 124 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered. A case FIR number 30/2015 under section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered against him in Police Station Pulwama. The peddler was also involved in case FIR numbers 300/2002 under section 148, 336, 427, 337, 307 RPC, 3/4 Exp Sub Act, 134/2006 under section 120B/RPC, 7/25 IA Act, 30 UL Act, 79/2006 under section 307, 427, 323 RPC, 3/4 Exp S Act, 277/2014 under section 8/22 NDPS and 39/2015 under section 506, 451 RPC, 7/25 IA Act of Police Station Pulwama.

In order to curtail his activities with regard to drug menace the said peddler was booked under the PSA and has been lodged in District Jail Kupwara.

Meanwhile, SSP Enforcement conducted a surprise inspection at Gulmarg.

A team of J&K Police Tourism Enforcement Wing led by SSP Enforcement Abdul Qayoom conducted a surprise inspection at Gulmarg to check the complaints of overcharging / cheating.

An amount of Rs. 31,000/- was realized as fine from different persons who were found indulging in violation of Tourist Trade Act. Besides, awareness programmes of Tourist Trade Act were also held at different places in Gulmarg.

The drive will continue against violators of Tourist Trade Act and stern action will be taken against the guilty, said SSP Enforcement, Tourism.

The police said that eleven persons were injured in two separate road accidents in Srinagar.

In Srinagar, one Minibus bearing registration number JK01F-5939 turned turtle at 90 feet road near New Way School in the jurisdiction of Police Station Soura, resulting in injuries to 09 passengers. All the injured were shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment.

In another accident, a Tipper bearing registration number JK01E-8131 hit a Scooter bearing registration number JK01F-7331 driven by Bilal Ahmad Guroo resident of Naikpora at Baginder Soieteng in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowgam, resulting in injuries to scooter rider and pillion mate Mehrab resident of Astanpora Soieteng. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Awareness cum Training programme conducted by SDRF

One day awareness cum training programme on Disaster preparedness was conducted by SDRF Kashmir in Tyndale Bisco and Mallinson Schools Srinagar.

The Students, teaching staff and other staff members were imparted training in medical emergency rescue, medial first responder (MFR) and emergency evacuation using ropeways. Besides, giving glimpse of modern equipment used in collapsed structures and fire fighting. The students and teachers enthusiastic about the training programme and eager to learn so that in case of any exigency they can handle the situation before arrival of rescue team.

Commandant SDRF Mr. Abdul Waheed Shah has initiated this exercise, which will continue in other institutions in the valley.
