Panic gripped  Paddar’s Hussad village, which is around 55 kilometres from Kishtwar when reportedly Village Defense Council (VDC) members  opened fire on a specific community in Kajai area.

According to sources, the firing incident which led to intense tension injured three  persons, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Muhammad Imtiyaz Bhat and Altaf Hussain Khanday. The injured later were shifted to hospital in Atholi.

Not only firing, the sources say that VDC members set houses of a specific community on fire which created  havoc in the area.

When police in Jammu was contacted for the comment, they refused  and continuously not given any detail about the  incident. The reports thus are coming are from local population.

Pertinently the Chenab Valley area is under intense communal tension after the two  communities clashed ahead of Eid prayers in Kishtwar. To control the situation Army was called in and strict curfew was imposed. Late Friday evening government ordered transfer of Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. Also Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu was appointed as inquiry officer to probe the matter and submit its report within three weeks.
