In a rare development, family members of a youth who had joined militancy visited Press Enclave here to appeal him to return home.

Buoyed by the successful reunion of two militants with their families last week, a family from Pulwama traversed nearly 40 kms to reach press enclave here in the hope that their son will rejoin them if their appeal was highlighted by the media.

It is for the first time that any family made an appeal to their son through media.

According to the parents, Adil Ahmad Bhat (21) went missing on October 7, 2017. “We lodged a police complaint in Pulwama but could not trace him. Later, we came to know through social media that he had joined militanant outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen”, Haseena, mother of Adil told reporters.

Haseena and her husband, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, who works in police department, made an emotional appeal to their son (Adil) to return home.

The trend-setter was 17-year-old Majid Khan, who left militancy within ten days of joining Lashkar-e-Toiba and gave himself up on November 18. Three days later, another youth rejoined his family, as per police. (Kashmir Wire)
