The UJC supremo and Hizb chief Syed Sallah-ud-din Friday said that any direct or indirect support to the election process in Jammu and Kashmir would be tantamount to “open betrayal with the ongoing resistance movement.”

In an emailed statement to KNS, Syed Sadaqat Husain quoting UJC chief Sallah-ud-Din while speaking in a high level UJC meet, said, “By conducting polls in Jammu and Kashmir, GOI wants to deceive the world over the ground reality of Kashmir and wants to give an impression that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are contended with the system.”

“People of Kashmir must remember that while striving for freedom, five lakh people have been martyred and wide spread devastation all over was witnessed,” he said.

He said that no party or person has any reason for taking part in the election process. “Any direct or indirect support to the poll process would be like rubbing of salt over peoples’ wounds. It will be treated as treachery and enmity with the nation and such people will neither be forgiven by history nor by the people of Kashmir,” he said.

The UJC chief also appealed the Huriyat leadership to launch door to door campaign so that people are informed about the negative impacts of the poll process. He said that the struggle for the right to self determination shall continue.
