BARAMULLA: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) suffered a major setback as the party could not manage an impressive mandate from the area despite its veterans having the roots in this district. AP candidate Zahoor Ahmad Mir lost the battle from PAGD’s Shabir Ahmad Lone from Syed Altaf Bukhari’s as well Dilawar Mir’s native villages Ladoora and Rohama.

Bukhari and most of the veterans of the party belong to Baramulla – Altaf Bukhari, Ghulam Hassan Mir (Tangmarg), Shuaib Nabi Lone (Sangrama), Javid Hassan Beig (Baramulla), Mohammad Dilawar Mir and Yawar Mir (Rafiabad).

The report card of DDC results suggests that from Baramulla district only the party has been on number second and won only Tangmarg. In fact party’s district president Shuaib Nabi Lone and his mother lost from Sangrama and Wagoora, respectively.

Shuaib Lone was defeated by Irfan Nabi Lone an independent candidate by more than 200 votes and his mother Nasreena Firdous remained on number three in Wagoora block.  Safina Baig (independent) wife of Muzzafar Hussain Baig defeated PAGD Shaheena Begum by nearly 1500 votes from the same block.

Party Chief spokesperson and former MLA Javid Hassan Baig’s both the candidates from Narwov and Baramulla lost the battle. PAGD’s adv Qurat Ul Bashir won the seat from Apny Party’s Farhat Ara. Similarly, Razia Hussan (PAGD) won Narwov seat and defeated JKAP’s Bisma Nabi Pandith.

From Party’s senior leader Dilawar Mir’s Rafiabad both the seats were won by PAGD candidates. The JKAP remained on number two. In Rafiabad 7, PAGD’s Parmeet Kour defeated Tasleema Akhter by nearly 95 votes. The contest remained neck to neck between the two.

In Rafiabad’s Rohama block, Dilawar Mir’s native village, AP candidate Mir’s Nephew Zahoor Ahmad Mir lost the battle from Shabir Ahmad Lone of PAGD.  Khursheed Ahmad Khan was contesting the election from the seat as an independent candidate. But this didn’t helped the JKAP much, they lost by nearly 900 votes.

While as in Uri the situation remained same the scorecard of the newly established party is not surprising. Paranpeelan (Uri) seat is won by former MLA/ Minister Taj Mohi u Din (INC). He defeated PAGD’s Showkat Ali Khan. While in Boniyar block the seat was won by Ismail Khan (PAGD), who defeated INC’s Candidate.

Sanaullah  Parray of PAGD defeated Farooq Ahmad Lone (Independent) by 1300 votes from Pattan seat. In Singhpora,  Najma Begum of PAGD defeated JKAP’s Fatima Bano by a hug margin of 2689 votes.

There might be some relief for JKAP as they have won Tangmarg seat. Mir Tajamul Ishfaq nephew of former MLA/ Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir defeated Abdul Razzak Malik of PAGD.

In Kunzer the counting is still going on (9:25 pm) there is a close contest between JKAP’s Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and Abdul Hamid Wani of PAGD.

In Baramulla, as on the JKAP has won one seat, Congress two seats, PAGD has seven in bucket and others have three. Counting is going on for the Kunzer seat

Meanwhile,  Sarpanch who was contesting on JKPD’s ticket has lost the seat from NC’s candidate from Altaf Bukhari’s native village Ladoora Rafiabad.
