The orchard owners of North Kashmir’s Baramullah district suffered losses after budding apple and walnut trees were damaged in ‘mysterious’ fire that engulfed the orchards during afternoon hours at Gantamulla village.

Police sources told CNS that a mysterious fire engulfed the orchards of Ali Muhammad Wani, Abdul Qadoos and Abdul Rashi Mir in which hundreds of apple and walnut trees gutted resulting in the huge loss.

“Over 100 trees damaged in fire.. It was the efforts put by fire fighters that fire was extinguished and stopped from spreading further,” Station House Officer Sheeri police station Nasir Ahmed said. He said that police has registered a case and investigation has been taken up.
