SRINAGAR: The armies of India and Pakistan on Sunday exchanged heavy fire, shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mankote sector of Poonch district, officials said.

An official said that the Pakistani troops targeted Indian army posts by firing mortars and other weapons in Mankote sector at about 6:45 am today.

“The soldiers manning the fence also responded the fire strongly,” he said. However, there were no immediate reports of any damage from either side, he added.
