Arms, Ammunition and Rs 8.40 Lakh Recovered in Central Kashmir: Police

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said they recovered a Chinese-made pistol, two hand grenades, ammunition and cash worth Rs 8.40 lakh from two persons in central kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A senior police officer said that the recovery was made during a late-evening operation by Police Station Ganderbal along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) near Gundrehman Bridge, the officer said.

The accused, identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir of Hajin in Bandipora district and Shabnum Nazir of Shalabugh in Ganderbal, were travelling in an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK15B-7309 when they were intercepted, the officer added.

A case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal, and further investigation is underway. (KNC)
