SRINAGAR: Security forces have recovered arms and ammunition during a cordon-and-search operation in the Namblan forest area of Baramulla.
“In a joint operation on March 26, Baramulla Police, along with 46 RR and 53 Bn CRPF, launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Namblan forest area. During the search, a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered,” reads a statement.
According to the statement, the recovered items include two Chinese hand grenades, 104 AK-47 rounds, two AK-47 magazines (one damaged), six pieces of RDX, a detonator set with wire, a pouch, two pithoo bags, and a pressure IED.
“The timely operation prevented the possible misuse of these arms and ammunition for unlawful activities. In this regard, FIR No. 18/2025 under Sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act and Section 13 of the UAPA has been registered at Police Station Sheeri, and further investigation is ongoing,” the statement reads.
