Army on Tuesday allegedly vandalized property and beat up inmates following a stone-pelting incident in a village in Palpora area of Qaziabad village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Speaking to Kashmir Life on phone from the area, the residents alleged that army men from a nearby camp barged into their locality and smashed the window panes and thrashed the inmates.

Locals said that an army patrolling party was pelted with stones in the area by some youth.

They said that army men thrashed several persons and smashed windowpanes of houses following a minor stone-pelting incident in the village.

When contacted local MLA Er Rasheed said that “I have spoken to the administration regarding the incident and demanded stern action against the culprits and compensation for those whose property has been damaged during the incident by government forces.”
