An army officer was killed after he slipped and rolled down into a deep gorge near Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday morning.

A senior army official told Global News Service (GNS) that army’s 36 RR had launched massive searches in the forest area of Koragbal close to the LoC during intervening night of August 07/08.

“Today early in the morning as the searches were under way, an army Captain Prem Kumar slipped and rolled down into a deep gorge”, he said, adding that the injured officer was shifted to nearby hospital where from he was later airlifted to military hospital here in Srinagar.

However, the officer, later in the day succumbed to injuries, he said.

Meanwhile, search operation in the area was going on following inputs about the presence of some suspicious movement, he added.

Pertinently, on June 12, 2015, a rifle man Ravinder Singh of 15 RR had met the same fate as he slipped the search operation at Javard forest area in the same sector.
