Indian Army chief general Bikram Singh Saturday reviewed the latest situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of some of the incidents of ceasefire violations on the Line of Control.

As per a Delhi based wire agency general Singh visited the Northern Command headquarters at Udhampur, 65 kms north of Jammu. Due to the bad weather, he had to land at Jammu and go to Udhampur by road.

During his short visit, the army chief interacted with the Northern Command chief, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, and other senior officers.

“He was apprised of the current security situation and the operational preparedness in Northern Command as well as the complex dynamics of the proxy war situation in the state,” Northern Command spokesman, Lt Col Rajesh Kalia said in a statement.

The army chief exhorted senior commanders to further consolidate on their gains in counter-insurgency operations achieved during the past two years.
