Army Saturday claimed that it killed two militants while they were trying to infiltrate in this part of Kashmir on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Giving details about the ‘infiltration bid’, Defense spokesperson for Jammu, Colonel Manish Mehta told CNS that an Army patrolling party observed a group of three to four militants who were trying to sneak into this part of State. “Our jawans challenged them and they started firing that was retaliated. In the ensuing gunfight two militants were killed who have not been identified yet,” he said adding that an Army jawan also suffered injuries during the gun fight.

Spokesperson further said that Army has launched a combing operation in forward belt of Kalsia Poonch and efforts are on to trace the militants who managed to flee from the spot after the gun fight. He said that the two AK-47 rifles were recovered from the possession of slain militants.
