Army on Saturday claimed to have foiled an intrusion bid in Balakote sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
A senior army official told GNS that a group of infiltrators tried to sneak into this side near Pajni Nallah in Balakote sector. “However, the soldiers of 15 Bihar Regiment challenged them at around 08:30 pm last evening. The infiltrators after being challenged opened heavy fire upon the forces deployed near the fence,” he said.
“The fire was retaliated ensuing a brief exchange of fire”, the official said, adding that no one was hurt in the incident.
As the infiltration attempt was foiled in the area, the Pakistani troops opened indiscriminate firing by using small arms on our forward posts in the sector,” he said.
He said that firing started at around 09:30 PM and continued till 10:30 PM.
However, there was no loss of life or damage,” he said.
