SRINAGAR: The Army on Friday said it has taken note of an incident in which certain individuals were allegedly manhandled by Army personnel in Rajouri district.
Army spokesman in a statement said that it had received input regarding the possible movement of militants in a vehicle in the area. Accordingly, search operations were being conducted. Preliminary information suggests that upon being stopped, one individual allegedly attempted to snatch a weapon from the soldiers on duty, leading to a scuffle.
The spokesman added that an enquiry has been initiated. If any personnel are found guilty of misconduct, strict action will be taken as per existing law.
The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in counter-terror operations. It appealed to all sections of society to continue their cooperation with the Army for the sake of collective security in this sensitive area, the statement added. (GNS)
